Looking back

One of the things I realized during my DTS was how terrible blogger I am - only 12 posts in 6 months? Terrible! I owe you all an apology, please don't hate me for keeping you in dark - I'll partially atone for my negligence now. Or at least I'll try.

I wrote my last post just few days after we arrived on Thasos which was probably one the most beautiful place I've ever visited. Beautiful beaches, nearly emerald see - true paradise.
Well, not for me, anyways. It was there, where I started to struggle with depression, feeling disconnected form my team not being able to handle the huge differences in personalities as well as probably being under spiritual attack. And so I had worst three weeks of my DTS. I knew God was still in work, but not being able to feel happy, I quitted bogging and focused on survival.

Outreach, outreach!

... or was it "Berlin, Berlin!"? I have it aaal confused :D Anyway, that is where we started.

Even though it was only for few days, Berlin was very nice. We prayed by the Berlin wall and we were meeting people... I am already looking forward to go there again in the end of outreach.

From Berlin we went to Thessaloniki, as apostol Paul one did. We even saw one of the synagoges where he was teaching.
We were staying in a church which welcomed us with open arms. I had no idea what kind of ministry am I supposed to do but when I prayed God told me that it is not about big things but about seeking his will for that place. So every day I woke up with a simple prayer: "God, what should I do today?" and he always had simple task for that day. One day it was to paint a picture and give it to someone, other day to go uo the hill and pray over the city. That may not sound like much, but every evening I heard "well done, my daughter." The best feeling in the world!

We also spend some time helping people from the Church with their ministry at Roma camp. Oh, I love Roma kids! So much love! So much joy! Obviously we were not able to change their lives very much, but my prayer is that they would remmember our love and ask how is it possible that those people came to play with us? It must have been the God they talked about! Or even to think "I must be worth something when those pople loved to play with me."

And now ne are in beautiful island Thassos! It is truly paradise on Earth.

If you want to be part of what God is doing here, you can pray for us! Please pray for open doors for ministry and for me, to be a testimony here. It is also possible to support our team or me personally financially, if that is on your heart, please e-mail me for details.

With love

Your Bára

Good-bye Florida!!!

It feels surreal to be leaving this beautiful place after 9 weeks of lecture phase. I will miss all my new friends, smiling shop assistants, ocean and white send beaches, I will definitely miss worship sessions, bible reading and coffee breaks. I will miss Our leaders and two students who are not comming for outreach. I will miss the rain and tornado warnings - so much fun! But there are things I won't miss at all: majonaise sandwiches, people stepping on me in the middle of the night, sharp sun, our shower (!!!) ...

Letem světem

Čas rychle utíká a najednou mi na Floridě zbývají jen 4 týdny! A já s hrůzou zjišťuji, že poslední fotodokumentaci jsem vám všem milým blogsledům poskytnula naposledy... No už je to dávno!
Takže tady  -

Times flies so fast and now there are only 4 weeks left in Florida! And it seems that I have been neglecting you, my dear blog friends, very much. It has been so long since I've posted any pictures.
So here you are:

Florida mě baví

First English DTS update :)

Dear friends, family members and random visitors,

as you most of you already  know I am probably the worst blogger ever. But still I cannot believe that I haven’t written any English post from my DTS yet! Shame on me!! I don’t know if I can atone for more than 3 weeks of negligence in one evening, but let me try:

So how does my YWAM life look like?

As I arrived one week later I had a privilege to live in a staff house for the first week because there was no space for me in the girl’s house. Well, in that week I was able to become friends with our two eldest students, lovely Priscille and gracious Karen, who might be of the same ages as my grandmothers, but they are courageous, caring and fun. What a blessing for my life! Right next to the staff house, there is a big Church where our lectures take place. Fellowship of believers opened their hearts for us generously. Whenever I meet some of the Church members, they are smiling and friendly.

Did not dare not to dare

It seems that every time I make a long time plan, a little earthquake appears, turns my life upside down and makes me reevaluate my plan and make a change.

Like when I finally decided to transfer to a primary school in a different town and ended up at grammar school.

Like when I decided to study Architecture and ended up studying Faculty of Education with majors in Languages and Literature.

Like when I was offered a well-paid job but still I am going to a Discipleship Training School (DTS) with Youth with a Mission (YWAM).
